History of the Independent Catholic Church

The Independent Catholic Movement in Brazil, had their records made by Father Diogo Antonio Feijo in 1828. It was a struggle of almost one hundred years, who had only outcome with Dom Salomão Ferraz.

Ordained bishop by Bishop Carlos Duarte Costa, Salomão Ferraz became the first patriarch of the Independent Catholic Church.

In the early '60s of the twentieth century, Bishop Solomon abandon the Movement and become Roman Catholic bishop.

His influence in this direction was so great that he attended the Second Vatican Council, as one of the Brazilian bishops. Importantly, Don Solomon not reordered by Rome, which shows its recognition of apostolic succession.

Even though the Roman bishop as auxiliary of the Archdiocese of St. Paul (the first Roman bishop married the story), Don Solomon did not abandon the ideals of Catholicism Independent.

Before his departure, was consecrated Bishop Manuel Ceia Laranjeira, which in January 5 1966 restored the Independent Catholic Church in Brazil, which continues legitimate movements mentioned.

After Dom Manuel, the Independent Catholic Church, had the Patriarch, Dom Lapércio.

Our present is Patriarch Dom Paulo Ferreira da Silva.

 

Currently, the Independent Catholic Church is present in the United States, Colombia and Spain. We grow each day with a strong pastoral and expressive.

In Rio de Janeiro, the City of Japeri, is the Administrative Headquarters for the general issues and the questions refer to the Patriarch and the Patriarchate.
